Fulfil is Ireland's protein bar export that's taken the UK and European market by storm before making a serious push into the US. With over 55,000 monthly searches, the brand has built a reputation for making protein bars that taste like actual candy bars — specifically, like a Snickers or a Mars bar with a protein upgrade.
But do they live up to the hype, or is it just good marketing? Let's review.
Here's what you're getting per bar (55g):
The macros are competitive with Barebells and Quest. 20g protein, under 2g sugar, and 200–220 calories is a strong package. But here's what makes Fulfil stand out nutritionally: every bar contains 9 added vitamins including B6, B12, C, D, and E. No other mainstream protein bar does this.
Fulfil uses a blend of milk protein and whey protein (both concentrate forms). Solid, complete protein sources with good amino acid profiles. Nothing exotic, but nothing to complain about either.
Like Barebells, they use concentrate rather than isolate, so lactose-sensitive individuals may experience some discomfort.
Here's what's in a Fulfil Chocolate Peanut & Caramel bar:
Maltitol appears twice — in both the caramel and the chocolate coating. Same concerns as think! and Pure Protein: digestive discomfort and a higher glycemic impact than other sugar alcohols.
Collagen Hydrolysate — Here we go again. Cheaper protein that pads the 20g count. A portion of Fulfil's protein is coming from collagen, not whey. This is becoming a pattern across mainstream protein bars.
Coconut Oil instead of palm oil in the caramel is a nice touch — it's a slightly better fat source. However, the chocolate coating still uses conventional cocoa butter.
9 Added Vitamins — This is Fulfil's genuine differentiator. No other mainstream protein bar adds this many vitamins. Whether the doses are meaningful (they provide 30–50% of daily values) is debatable, but it's more than zero.
Fulfil's US lineup includes:
The European lineup is larger (10+ flavors), so expect more options to hit the US market as distribution expands. The flavors lean heavily toward chocolate-and-caramel combos, which is on-brand for their candy-bar positioning.
Fulfil bars have a multi-layer texture that genuinely mimics candy bars. The Chocolate Peanut & Caramel has a gooey caramel layer, a dense protein center, and a chocolate shell. It's the closest thing to a Snickers with 20g protein that we've found.
The taste is sweet but not cloying, and the caramel texture is chewy without being sticky. Compared to Barebells (which is more nougat-like), Fulfil offers more textural complexity. The Chocolate Hazelnut Whip is reminiscent of a Kinder Bueno, which is about the highest compliment a protein bar can receive.
The downside: some people report a mild aftertaste from the maltitol, especially in the non-chocolate flavors.
Fulfil bars retail for $29.99 for a 12-pack ($2.50/bar) on Amazon, or $3.00–$3.50 in retail stores where available. The pricing is comparable to Barebells — premium but not outrageous. The added vitamins provide incremental value that no competitor matches at this price.
They're not ideal for anyone avoiding maltitol, budget shoppers, vegans, or people who want truly clean ingredients.
Fulfil adds 9 vitamins to their bar — a step in the right direction. But LyfeFuel's Essential Nutrition Bar goes much further with 21 vitamins and minerals from whole food sources, 28+ superfoods, 11g prebiotic fiber, and zero maltitol or collagen filler. Fulfil is a protein bar with vitamins added; LyfeFuel is a complete nutrition bar built from the ground up.
Fulfil stands out in a crowded market thanks to two things: the genuinely candy-bar-like eating experience and the 9 added vitamins that no competitor matches. The macros are solid, the flavors are well-executed, and the multi-layer texture is best-in-class. The downsides — maltitol, collagen filler, limited US availability, and premium pricing — keep it from the top tier, but Fulfil is a strong contender for anyone who wants their protein bar to taste like a real treat.
