  • Some people may prefer a different texture than Misfits Protein Bars, as they can be pretty dense and chewy.

Let's Talk About Flavors and Taste

Whenever we consider buying a healthy food product, the first thing that comes to our mind is taste. We tried a few of the many flavors of Misfit protein bars, and here's what we think.

Chocolate Banoffee

The flavor Chocolate Banoffee poses a mystery regarding the "offee" part. Is it supposed to represent toffee or coffee?

One cannot be sure since neither flavor was detectable. However, the banana taste was dominant and pleasant. Unfortunately, the texture was as dry as cardboard and absorbed any moisture in the mouth.

Cookie Butter

Cookie Butter seemed promising as it bore the name of a beloved spread. The expectation was that it would taste as good as the original. Yet, it was one of the worst flavors, as it tasted nothing like cookie butter.

The texture was cardboard-like, and the taste followed suit.

Although one has never tasted cardboard, it can be imagined that the protein bar tasted similar. The layer of cookie butter was inadequate and added nothing to the bar, but the milk chocolate coating was decent.

Dark Chocolate Brownie Flavor

The Dark Chocolate Brownie flavor was okay. Although chocolate-flavored food items were usually favored, the taste of Stevia was too strong and overshadowed the actual chocolate flavor.

Chocolate Caramel

Chocolate Caramel had a thin layer of caramel and a milk chocolate coating. The flavors were well-balanced, and the Stevia was not overpowering. However, it was still dry and gritty.

Cookies and Cream

Cookies and Cream was the only bar that featured a white chocolate coating. It was expected to taste like a Hershey's cookies and cream bar, but it wasn't very reassuring.

The Stevia was the only detectable flavor, and there was no trace of cookies and cream. It was a terrible experience.

Chocolate Hazelnut

Chocolate Hazelnut had a milk chocolate coating and a hazelnut filling. The chocolate chips inside the bar made it even better, and it tasted like chocolate instead of Stevia.

Although it was still dry, the gooey hazelnut layer was a redeeming quality.

Thoughts

According to our overall tasting experience, the taste of flavors could have been better, and the texture of the bars could have been more pleasant. Moreover, we found identifying some of the flavors challenging due to their unusual names, and they did not taste as expected.

The dryness of most of the bars was another issue, which made it hard to swallow them without water. However, there were some positives, such as the milk chocolate coating on some of the bars, which had a good taste and texture.

Additionally, a few flavors, such as the chocolate hazelnut and chocolate caramel, had a gooey layer that made up for the dryness.

Ingredients: Are They Healthy?

The Misfits Vegan Protein Bars are crafted from a 100% natural plant-based formula without traces of gluten or animal-based constituents. According to Misfits, the bars' components are of unparalleled quality and obtained from environmentally-conscious producers.

The ingredients list includes:

  • A variety of plant-based nutrients, such as pea protein isolate, soya protein nuggets, soya protein isolate, cocoa, and tapioca starch
  • The bars also contain carbohydrates derived from tapioca starch, soya flour, and rice syrup.
  • The fat is derived from peanut paste, vegetable glycerine, and coconut oil.
  • The bars feature fibers from chicory root fiber and sugar beet fiber.
  • Natural sweeteners are taken from stevia extract, xylitol, and cocoa mass.
  • Other components in the mix include humectants, emulsifiers, thickeners, and an acidifier.

Even though the bars are jam-packed with natural ingredients, the lengthy list of additives could raise concerns for some individuals. Therefore, a low rating is warranted, especially for those who prioritize minimizing artificial additives in their diets.

What Do Customers Say?

We looked at what customers said about the product on different shopping websites, and here's what we found:

  • The taste and texture of the Misfits Vegan Protein Bars have received mixed reviews. While a few flavors, such as chocolate hazelnut and chocolate caramel, were satisfactory, the majority of flavors were deemed unsavory by some customers.
  • The unpleasant taste and dry texture made it difficult for customers to consume an entire bar, even when hunger was a factor.
  • The Stevia extract, which was used as a sweetener, was found to be overpowering and the root cause of most issues.

Should You Buy Misfit Protein Bars?

There's no harm in trying the Misfit protein bar once. However, we will not suggest you add it to your daily diet. The bars contain many additives, which may raise concerns for those looking to minimize artificial ingredients in their diet.

While the ingredients list includes a range of plant-based proteins, carbohydrates, and fibers, the bars also contain a long list of humectants, emulsifiers, thickeners, and an acidifier. These components may be problematic for some individuals and could lead to adverse health effects.

Furthermore, several other plant-based protein bar options are available in the market that are cheaper, healthier, and have better taste and texture.
